Under Graduate Degree in Maritime Engineering

General information
  • Students may qualify as MariTIME Engineering Technicians (specialising in Ship Propulsion and Services), according to the specifications of the European Marine Engineer programme, and as Maritime Engineers when this profession is officially approved in Spain.
  • Length of course: 4 years
  • Equivalent European Credits: 240 EC
Objectives
  1. Students should acquire the necessary skill to write, sign and develop Naval & Oceanic Engineering Projects making up the building, assembly, change, exploitation, maintenance, repair activities or the scraping of ships, vessels and marine devices.
  2. Students should acquire the necessary skill to run the activities linked to the Maritime Engineering Projects.
  3. Students should be trained in the learning of new methods and theories and be versatile in order to adapt to new situations basing on their previous knowledge in basic and technological subjects on Maritime Engineering.
  4. Students should obtain the necessary maturity to solve problems with initiative, decision-taking, creativity, critical reasoning and be able to communicate and pass on their knowledge, competences and skills.
  5. Students should be trained in measuring, calculations, assessments, valuations, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and other similar jobs in the area of Maritime Engineering.
  6. Students should be trained in the handling of specifications, regulations and legal binding provisions related to safety, definition of spaces on board and operating capacity of ships.
  7. Students should be able to analyze and valuate the social and environmental impact of the naval technical solutions.
  8. Students should be able for organizing and planning the work in shipyards and maritime institutions.
  9. Students should be trained in a multilingual and multidisciplinary environment.
  10. Students should obtain an adequate level of knowlege, comprehenison and skill to apply the necessary rules in the course of their duties as Technical Naval Engineers, specialized in the Marine Structures.
